In cooperation between the industrial design students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the students from the Faculty of Product Design at the University of Applied Sciences from Aachen, Germany a joint student project was organized as a part of the activities in the frames of TEMPUS JEP_41128_2006 project. The theme of the joint student project was design of electric urban vehicle for 4 passengers.
Under the supervision of the professors Tatjana Kandikjan and Sofija Sidorenko from Skopje and the professors Clemens Stuebner and Andreas Gebhardt from Aachen the joint student project was realized in the period between 1.12.2008 and 15.08.2009. Exchange of experience and knowledge was the main reason for establishment of this joint student project.
Two teams of students, one from Skopje, another one from Aachen, have worked on the design of electric urban vehicle for 4 passengers. They have decided together about the main features of the urban vehicle to be developed:
- possibility for modular production of different car-types: micro-car, hatchback, pick - up and station wagon;
- recognizable corporate identity;
- car-sharing for young people.
They have also adopted together the leading key words: urban, reliable and active. “4e4” has become the name of the vehicle.
The cooperation between the teams was realized via internet, skype and also they have met three times:
First meeting in Aachen
Second meeting in Skopje
Third Meeting in Aachen and Ohrid
The results of the project were presented first on the annual Exhibition of the students from the Industrial Design department at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from Skopje and also in a published booklet.
The success of this project should be taken as a proof for the great importance of such international collaborations, and should serve as a guideline for future similar works and transfer of knowledge and experience.
